The Championship clubs who have done the best transfer business ahead of 2023

Good signings can be the difference between success and failure and success in the Championship means promotion to Super League so it doesn’t get much bigger than that.

But Which teams have done the best transfer business in the second tier?

Here’s our top three.

3. Sheffield Eagles
Not only were Sheffield Eagles’ signings brilliant, so were their announcement videos. They have brought halfback Cory Aston back to the club, exciting Leeds Rhinos youngster Joe Hird to the side as well as former Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers man Jesse Sene-Lefao who has Super League Grand Final experience. Speaking of Super League experience, Aaron Murphy will give them that as will Oliver Roberts, Titus Gwaze is another top signing.

2. Keighley Cougars
It would be easy to focus on the Cougars’ signing of Luke Gale alone, however he is just the biggest name of a brilliant recruitment drive by the newly promoted Cougars. The former Man of Steel with Castleford Tigers leaves Hull FC for the Cougars and is joined by former Hull KR back Ben Crooks, Wakefield Trinity man Brad Walker and former Leigh Leopards and Super League man Mark Ioane.

1. Bradford Bulls
Bradford have drafted in huge quality ahead of a big year in 2023. The Bulls have signed the likes of 2022 Grand Finalist Bodene Thompson as well as his Leeds Rhinos’ teammate and the youngest man to ever win a Super League Grand Final in Jack Walker. Their new skipper is Michael Lawrence from Huddersfield Giants who joins ex-teammate Chester Butler at the club. They have also brought in international talent such as Keven Appo of Papua New Guinea.
