The 9 players set to leave Hull KR as things stand

Hull KR Willie Peters

Hull KR are flying high in Super League in 2024 but the Robins are set to lose nine players for the 2025 campaign including to rival clubs such as Leeds Rhinos.

The Robins sit top of Super League at the time of writing after rivals Wigan Warriors lost to Leeds Rhinos unexpectedly and if results go their way, Hull KR could pull two points clear at Magic Weekend.

All that Willie Peters’ side can focus on are the six games in front of them starting with Catalans Dragons on Sunday but sitting four points clear of third-place Warrington, the Robins can sense a home playoff semi-final which would represent their best-ever shot at making it to Old Trafford.

That’s where they want to be over the next few years with Rovers evolving into one of Super League’s elite clubs and they’ve done that through impressive recruitment alongside Peters’ coaching.

In 2024 their signings have gelled brilliantly with the likes of Peta Hiku, Joe Burgess, Niall Evalds, Jai Whitbread and Kelepi Tanginoa all being among the very best in their respective positions, whilst mid-season signings such as Jack Brown, Danny Richardson and Jack Broadbent have all played roles too.

With five confirmed arrivals for 2025 in Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Tom Davies, Eribe Doro, Bill Leyland and Micky McIlorum, they’re also set to lose nine. We’ve assessed those nine players below.

All the players Hull KR will lose for 2025

Those exiting Hull KR can be split into three categories, the off-contract players, those confirmed as leaving and another category of expected to leave.

There are four players confirmed as leaving and two of those were confirmed when the Robins announced the list of players that they had not offered contracts to for 2025.

They are hookers Matt Parcell and Reiss Butterworth with neither man offered a new deal and their replacements confirmed already in McIlorum and Leyland. Also confirmed as exiting is Ryan Hall who will return to Leeds Rhinos in a swansong transfer.

Another departing winger is Louis Senior who is currently on loan at Castleford Tigers but the deal will be made permanent at the end of the season. All four of those men are confirmed to be leaving Craven Park.

Meanwhile, there remain four players who have not been offered contracts for the 2025 season meaning their status could yet change. Three of those players are academy graduates in Harvey Moore, Lenne Ellis and Harvey Horne.

The fourth is prop Matty Storton who has been key in recent weeks but has previously been linked with a move to Wakefield Trinity. That’s still unconfirmed but the former Bradford Bulls man does look set to depart. *After publishing, it was announced that Storton had signed with Wakefield Trinity for the 2025 season.*

The ninth player is one who is expected to leave based on a quota situation. Hull KR currently have seven overseas players on their books for 2025 but are reported to have signed Rhyse Martin from Leeds Rhinos meaning they need to find a quota spot.

It’s now been reported by John Davidson writing for RugbyLeagueHub.com that centre Tom Opacic will leave Hull KR with Davidson reporting that has been confirmed by the club.

Given the plethora of centres that Hull KR boast such as Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart, Jack Broadbent and youngsters Louix Gorman and Connor Barley, it’s no surprise to see a centre sacrificed, however, Opacic is still a quality player.

If the Rhyse Martin reports are to be believed then KR will have to lose an overseas player meaning Opacic’s reported exit makes sense, particularly with the Australian playing less in 2024 than in his debut season last year.
