Leeds Rhinos could be facing another major turnover in players at the end of 2025 with the club having seen a total of nine depart at the end of the 2024 campaign.
Seven of Rhinos’ senior squad will be entering the final year of their deal when Betfred Super League kicks off in February and one is also out of contract at the end of next year but has an option for another 12 months.
Of those players, seven had a top-20 squad number in 2024 and another is one of this year’s signings, so sporting director Ian Blease, who is in charge of recruitment and retention, is facing a busy campaign.
Players who are entering the final year of their contract have been free to talk to rival clubs since December 1. Here’s which Leeds players are in that category.
The 8 off-contract Leeds Rhinos players
Matt Frawley
The 29-year-old Australian half-back signed a two-year deal when he joined Rhinos from Canberra Raiders ahead of the 2024 season.
Mikolaj Oledzki
Twice Rhinos’ player of the year, the 26-year-old Polish-born prop made his debut in 2017 and signed his current deal in December, 2021.
Tom Holroyd
Like Oledzki, the 23-year-old front-rower, who made his debut in 2018, signed a long-term contract in December, 2021.
James Bentley
The Ireland international second-rower, 27, joined Rhinos from St Helens ahead of the 2022 season on a two-year contract. That was extended for two seasons in September, 2023.
Sam Lisone
The 30-year-old former Samoa Test joined Leeds ahead of the 2023 season on a two-year deal. That was extended by 12 months in June last year.
James McDonnell
The Wigan-born second-rower signed a new deal in January this year. He initially joined Leeds on a 24-month contract ahead of the 2023 season.
Morgan Gannon
A product of Rhinos’ youth system, the second-rower made his first appearance in April, 2021 and agreed a long-term contract 11 months later, when he was just 18. The 20-year-old didn’t play a competitive game this year, because of concussion, but is set to return in 2025.
Ryan Hall
The club legend, who made his debut in 2007 and turns 37 later this month, has rejoined Rhinos on what is officially a one-year deal, but it includes an option into 2026, which would be his 20th season as a professional.
