Salford Red Devils have surprised everyone this season with Paul Rowley’s team bidding for the playoffs on a budget, however, they’re set to lose six of their current squad for the 2025 campaign.
Having lost stars such as Brodie Croft, Andy Ackers, Ken Sio and Joe Burgess heading into the 2024 campaign, it was widely expected that Salford Red Devils would be fighting it out near the bottom of the Super League table.
Instead, they’ve shocked everyone, perhaps even themselves, as they currently sit sixth and with a real shot at holding on and making the playoffs after narrowly missing out in 2023.
Key to that has been talisman Marc Sneyd and their star signing Nene Macdonald who arrived from Leeds Rhinos, but also head coach Paul Rowley who has batted back advances from Hull FC and reported interest from Leeds Rhinos to remain loyal to the Red Devils.
He’s confirmed he will see out his contract, which expires at the end of the 2025 season, but there are several players who will not be with the club next season.
All the players that Salford Red Devils could lose for 2025
Salford Red Devils look set to lose six players next year with two of them confirmed as exiting and having already signed deals with new clubs.
One of them is hooker Amir Bourouh with the youngster set to join Hull FC who are in the middle of a major rebuild. Bourouh was one of the first players to sign for the Black and Whites but the 23-year-old has had limited opportunities this season, only playing 11 times and not since the middle of July.
The other confirmed departure is someone who has played a lot more and has been one of the team’s underrated stars. Ollie Partington has signed a deal to join Catalans Dragons, bringing an end to his two-year stint with the club.
During that time he has made 41 appearances for the club including 18 Super League appearances this season, proving to be a crucial cog in the Salford Red Devils machine.
Others set to exit are four off-contract players with the most high-profile being Cade Cust who has been heavily linked with a move to Hull FC after never finding his feet in a Salford shirt.
The other trio are Adam Sidlow, Andrew Dixon and Matty Foster, however, Foster does have an extension option in his contract. The trio have played just six times for the club this season, with Sidlow not yet to play, instead spending time on loan with Oldham in League One.
At 36, and with Dixon at 34, neither looks likely to have their deals renewed but Foster could given his promise at just 23.
