The 53 players to have represented Salford Red Devils in 2025 after four fresh debuts v Hull FC

Salford Red Devils have now used a staggering 53 players this season with four more making their debuts for the club on Sunday.

Paul Rowley’s side were beaten on home soil by Hull FC in round 15, with the Black and Whites winning 38-6 at the Salford Community Stadium. The result didn’t tell the full story of the contest, though, with Salford turning in one of their best first half showings of the season before falling away after the break.

Dan Russell, Tom Whitehead, Cain Robb and Kobe Rugless were involved for the first time after joining the Red Devils last week, with all four men on loan. Russell and Whitehead joined from Warrington as part of the deal that took Sam Stone to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Robb made the move from Castleford Tigers before leaving the field with a head knock and Rugless’ move from Hunslet has been a source of controversy with Hunslet making a number of accusations about how the hooker ended up at Salford.

It’s been a season from hell for supporters of the Red Devils as their financial woes continue and with a HMRC deadline set for this week, things could even get worse if their debts are not settled.

On the field, results and form have understandably been difficult and the Red Devils sit bottom of the table as a result. Just naming a 17-man team has been difficult some weeks, with Salford having to dig deep into their youth ranks and take a raft of players on loan.
