Catalans Dragons have been busy as they prepare for the start of a new era at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.
The Dragons have completely changed the make up Joel Tomkins’ first-team squad into 2026 with 12 new signings being made over the off-season. A raft of players have left the club, including the retiring quintet of Sam Tomkins, Luke Keary, Elliott Whitehead, Tariq Sims and Reimis Smith, while Theo Fages, Tevita Pangai Jr and Bayley Sironen are amongst the other high profile departures.
As such, Catalans have recruited heavily from down under, while domestic signings have been made too, with Harvey Wilson and Josh Simm moving to Perpignan.
Indeed, there’s a lot of unknowns about Catalans as they prepare for the 2026 Super League season, but what we do know is that they will have some tricky contract decisions to make over the coming months.
With that in mind, here’s a look at Catalans Dragons’ contract situation, as we understand it.
Catalans Dragons contract state of play
2026: Benjamin Garcia, Cesar Rouge, Chris Satae, Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet, Julian Bousquet, Oliver Partington, Romain Navarrete, Tommy Makinson, Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e, Lewis Dodd.
There’s a lot of senior faces approaching the end of their current deals in the south of France and a number of decisions might just depend on how they start the new season. Chris Satae, for example, is entering his third season with the club but his form will dictate whether Catalans want to keep him on.
The same can be said for Navarrete, Bousquet and even Makinson, given he is now 33. Lewis Dodd has signed a one-year deal for a reason, you’d think, and he may well be keeping his options open before deciding his future.
However, the Dragons can be expected to try and wrap up the futures of Oliver Partington and Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet as soon as possible.
2027: Ben Condon, Charlie Staines, Clement Martin, Franck Maria, Harvey Wilson, Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui*, Josh Allen, Josh Simm, Nick Cotric, Solomona Faataape, Toby Sexton*, Zac Lipowicz, Manase Kaho.
Firstly, despite signing two-year deals, it has already been confirmed that Toby Sexton and Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui will be joining Perth Bears at the end of the 2026 season.
However, the majority of the players Catalans have signed for the new campaign are on two-year deals, meaning decisions won’t be made on any of them for some time.
Nick Cotric is one the only other players of note on the above list and given his performances in 2025, the Dragons might well take a look extending his stay in the second half of the season.
