The 10 Castleford Tigers players that could depart the club next year

Although their signings took a while to be confirmed, Castleford Tigers now have their recruitment in full flow.

In the space of just a few days, NRL half-back Daejarn Asi and PNG Hunters hooker Judah Rimbu have joined former Parramatta Eels man Zac Cini at Wheldon Road. Those recruits add to the previous deals confirmed in Innes and Louis Senior becoming permanent arrivals at The Jungle.

However, a number of players departed the club at the end of the 2024 season – with Paul McShane, Corey Hall, Daniel Hindmarsh-Takyi, Elie El-Zakhem, Jacob Miller, Brad Martin, Luis Johnson, Samy Kibula and Nixon Putt all being released.

Who could leave the club at the end of next year? Here’s every player whose contract with the club is up at the end of 2025.

George Griffin has made 88 Super League appearances for the Tigers, but his contract expires in 2025.

However, the duo of Josh Hodson and Luke Hooley, both signed after working with Craig Lingard at Batley Bulldogs, are in the same boat after what would be just two seasons at Wheldon Road.

George Lawler has been excellent since coming back from a scare mid-season, and his contract is also up after the 2025 season, which would be a major loss for the side – as would be the loss of half-back Rowan Milnes.

The club only has one overseas quota player off-contract in Sylvester Namo, who has just one year left on the deal signed ahead of 2024.

However, after his quality performances over the international window for Papua New Guinea, it may be that the club are keen to extend his time with the club.

Josh Simm had a blistering start to life with Castleford, returning to the UK after two years in Australia, but a shoulder injury ended his season early.

Similarly, Will Tate was out for almost exactly a year due to an ankle injury, meaning he has still only made 10 appearances for the club since joining in 2023.

Forward Liam Watts penned a one-year extension for 2025, but it seems fairly likely that this will be the last year spent with the Tigers – and that could also be the case for fellow veteran forward Joe Westerman
