“That doesn’t win Grand Finals” – Lachlan Coote reveals what has held Hull KR back and why it’s changing

Lachlan Coote is one of those players who never gets the credit he deserved.

As St Helens won three titles in a row from 2019-21, he was their lynch pin. A fullback capable of anything and everything.

In 2023, he enters a second season with Hull KR and is enjoying pre-season including the rewards new boss Willie Peters has given them for their hard work as he explained speaking on the Robins’ Twitter page:

“We have worked really hard before Christmas, Willie gave us then the reward of 12 days off before Christmas which was deserved because we have been working really hard.

“There was the trip to Tenerife as well and a tough trip, the first week back and the standards haven’t dropped either. We’re straight back into things.”

He also shed light on what he felt has held Hull KR back in the past describing them as a team that would take “the easy option” and “that doesn’t win Grand Finals.”

Now the attitude of the club is changing.

He said:

“We’ve been a team that has taken the easy option in the past and that doesn’t win Grand Finals. We’re all about effort this year and we’re driving that into the team and the standards have gone up. Credit to Willie for that.”
