Terry O’Connor says this pack can compete with any in Super League

After a thumping defeat to Salford Red Devils last week, Hull FC needed to show a reaction against Super League and World Champions St Helens last night.

Though they didn’t win, the Black and Whites went toe to toe with Paul Wellens side and had Brad Dwyer capitalised on a brilliant chance late in the game it could have been a different story and Hull FC could have snatched the win.

Instead he dropped the ball and later Jon Bennison would go on to secure a 20-12 win.

After the game, on Sky Sports, Terry O’Connor said that Hull FC have a top pack that can compete with any in Super League:

“That is a big aggressive pack. It could compete with any pack in Super League.

“They have good outside backs, good halfbacks and they should be able to play on the back of that.

“They have shown what they can do.”

Meanwhile, Phil Clarke said that the Black and Whites need to find a way to be more consistent:

“The problem Hull have had is the difference between their best and their worst is massive. They have to narrow that gap.

“They need to find out why they were so bad last week.

“They have to really find within the club the answer to that.

“Potentially they have their best player to come back in Jake Trueman and there is Carlos Tuimavave.”
