Terry O’Connor now expects Super League side to kick on – Can they make the Play-offs?

After their win over Wakefield Trinity on Thursday, Castleford Tigers are on four points.

Leeds Rhinos were in a similar position last year and went on to reach the Grand Final.

It was suggested by Terry O’Connor on Sky Sports that the Tigers could kick on and possibly make the play-offs:

“They will start to believe. In the second half it was really absorbing but they had to turn away so much Wakefield threat.

“Yes the final pass didn’t quite click for Wakefield but their defence on their own line particularly between minutes 40 and 60 should stand them in a good position for the rest of the season.”

Interim Cas coach Andy Last said:

“We have shown we can step up now. We obviously pushed Catalans last week who are near the top of the table and now we can kick on and move up the table.”

Jamie Jones-Buchanan meanwhile wants to see Last given the job permanently:

“I like this fella. I think that win puts him over 50% in terms of wins as an interim coach in Super League whether it be at Hull FC or Castleford Tigers.

“When you take charge of a team on an interim basis, you are cleaning up a miss and dealing with turmoil so to be over 50% I think that is really impressive.

“I think he is a man motivator and he gets his team to do what he wants them to do.”

Jon Wells agreed: “It is an opportunity to build a new culture and build a team nicely into a new year.”
