Cheshire Police are investigating the disorder that occurred after Warrington Wolves’ pre-season friendly match with Widnes Vikings as fans clashed.

The force have also confirmed that a 17-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a fight the broke out outside the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Warrington won the game on Friday night, with the Super League side running out 50-12 victors. However, despite the meeting having nothing riding on it, fan trouble occurred in the stadium with some supporters entering the field of play.

Referee Jack Smith temporarily halted the action because of that before blowing his final whistle a little early as fans of both clubs appeared to goad each other and battle with stewards.
