Sykes: 400 games is a massive achievement for me

Dewsbury Rams’ Paul Sykes reached two significant milestones in last weekend’s match against Rochdale Hornets.

Sykes made his 400th career appearance while also notching his 2,000th point in fine style.

The former Super League stalwart has been a superb servant of the game and he has also been a big part of Dewsbury’s resurgence this season as they’ve climbed out of the relegation zone.

“I am proud of what I’ve achieved, since I was five years old this is all I wanted to do – play rugby,” Sykes said to the official Dewsbury Rams website

“To play for this long, and to do what I have done is a massive achievement for me.

“I didn’t think I’d reach this many games, I mean I always thought as long as I was playing then there is always a chance. I feel alright and long may it continue.

“The majority of the games I have played have been in Super League. However, to come to my hometown team and get to this milestone is very special. It is something I will certainly always remember.”
