Super League’s tallest ever player makes surprising transfer move

Rugby league is often a victim of its own success with talented players switching codes to play rugby union, and it’s happened once again with former Catalans Dragons forward Corentin Le Cam switching to the 15-man game.

Le Cam was the tallest Super League player on record at a ridiculous six foot nine inches or two metres and seven centimetres.

That huge frame makes it no surprise that he’ll chance it in the 15-man game with the 23-year-old clearly set to be a target at line-outs.

Le Cam didn’t re-sign with the Dragons at the end of the season leaving him unattached but the switch to union still comes as a shock and shame as he had impressed for France at the World Cup.

Despite only playing 11 times for France the giant second-rower featured four times for his nation in the recent World Cup and even managed to score a try.

Le Cam also spent time on loan at Whitehaven last season where he also crossed over using his monster frame to his advantage.

He has now signed with Ceret who play in the French Federal 1 league, however it is reported by Treize Mondial that he will feature a lot in the Top 14 structure which is the top flight as he will train with Perpignan.

If Le Cam breaks into the Perpignan side he could face fellow rugby league convert and former St Helens star Regan Grace who has joined Racing 92, with Grace one of the competition’s big signings having scored an impressive 88 tries in 144 games for the Super League champions.

New side Ceret introduced Le Cam to their fans via an Instagram post with the former Catalan set to start training as soon as possible.
