Super League title contenders suffer huge blow

Hull KR suffered a huge blow last week.

The Robins’ star man, who is well in the hunt for the Man of Steel award, Jordan Abdull suffered an injury in training.

Initially it appeared to be low in severity and he was seen as a 50/50 chance for their clash with Huddersfield Giants.

Then scans later revealed he would be out for six weeks.

The Robins though continued their fine form without him defeating Huddersfield 28-0.

This was despite losing star fullback Lachlan Coote early in the piece with halfback Mikey Lewis moving to fullback.

This meant that stand in scrum half Rowan Milnes was joined by hooker Jez Litten however the Robins still romped go victory as they kicked the Giants to death without Abdull’s killer boot.

Speaking earlier today Willie Peters said Coote’s injury could be for as little as two weeks but the club have now confirmed he will miss the next four weeks in another blow to their emerging top four hopes.

In a statement released by the club, they said:

”Hull KR can confirm Lachlan Coote will miss the next month of action after sustaining a hamstring tear in last Friday’s game against Huddersfield.”

Earlier today Peters confirmed that Coote would be replaced by either Lewis or Ethan Ryan.

Ryan is set to leave the club at the end of the year with Castleford Tigers reportedly interested.

Coote’s future is to be finalised in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen what this injury does to Hull KR’s title hopes. They will be tested against league leaders Warrington Wolves on Friday.
