Super League Team of the Week: Seven teams represented and one dominates

We had another big weekend of Super League action with Leeds Rhinos taking on Hull KR, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves butting heads and a top of the table clash between St Helens and Catalans Dragons.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity and Hull FC and Castleford Tigers met in vital games in the relegation battle.

On Sunday, Salford Red Devils met Leigh Leopards in a big top six game.

But the action started on Thursday in a game described as a Grand Final dress rehearsal by some as league leaders Catalans Dragons edged Super League and World Champions St Helens in a controversial affair.

On Friday night Hull KR broke Leeds hearts with a drop goal from debutant and NRL starlet Brad Schneider in golden point.

Wigan meanwhile helped their hopes for the top two defeating Warrington who remain outside the top four and Huddersfield defeated Wakefield.

Saturday saw Castleford miss the chance to move four points clear of their West Yorkshire rivals in the relegation battle.

Meanwhile on Sunday Leigh defeated Salford 24-22.

But who makes the team of the week?

Fullback: Jai Field
In many ways, as you would expect, he and Bevan French were the difference makers on Friday night. There is no getting away from his exceptional turn of pace to create the all important equaliser.

Wingers: Tom Johnstone & Adam Swift
One of the tries of the weekend from Tom Johnstone but in general an impeccable game from the winger who made plenty of yards all night. Meanwhile, Adam Swift bagged a brace including another try of the week contender.

Centres: Adam Keighran & Kevin Naiqama
Kevin Naiqama has been key to Huddersfield’s recent uptick in form and he was on hand to score again on Friday night. Meanwhile Adam Keighran was flawless for Catalans helping create Johnstone’s try.

Halfback: Brad Schneider & Bevan French
A perfect debut from Schneider. He scored the opening try, created the second try and won the game with a golden point drop goal. Bevan French meanwhile came up with a brilliant try and assist.

Props: Chris Satae & Tom Amone
Chris Satae was the match turner against Castleford. The prop scored the first try of the second half before his rampage set up Adam Swift. Tom Amone meanwhile kept his great form up setting up Lachlan Lam.

Hooker: Daryl Clark
Daryl Clark may have lost against Wigan but he had an excellent first half which included a brilliant try and assist.

Second-Rows: Cam Scott & Liam Farrell
Two tries for Hull FC’s breakout star of the season Cam Scott. He was excellent as usual as was Liam Farrell for Wigan as he notched yet another try.

Loose-Forward: John Asiata
The top 13 in Super League this year was again outstanding and had a vital contribution against Salford including an assist.
