Well another week of Super League has been and gone and what another eventful round it was.
From Castleford Tigers’ professional win over a youthful St Helens side on Friday to Leeds Rhinos’ second win of the season against bottom-placed Toulouse Olympique, the Super League table is taking shape.
Warrington Wolves were able to get one over on Huddersfield Giants on Saturday afternoon as Hull KR also put Wakefield Trinity to the sword in emphatic fashion.
That left Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils to do battle on Sunday afternoon live on Channel 4 with superstar Jai Field once more winning a Super League game for Wigan, whilst Hull FC managed to get over the line against Catalans Dragons.
1. Josh Thewlis – Warrington Wolves
With the absence of Stefan Ratchford, Josh Thewlis was given the nod at fullback and boy did he make an impression. The youngster scored a hat-trick and was incredible from start to finish against Huddersfield.
2. Ethan Ryan – Hull KR
After waiting patiently for a chance from Tony Smith, Ethan Ryan has grabbed his opportunity with both hands. The winger scored two tries and was key for Hull KR coming out of backfield against Wakefield.
3. Jack Broadbent – Leeds Rhinos
With his chances in 2022 so far limited, Jack Broadbent took his opportunity with both hands, enjoying a stellar display against Toulouse, both at centre and when he was shifted to fullback due to injuries.
4. Shaun Kenny-Dowall – Hull KR
Another superb captain’s knock from Shaun Kenny-Dowall as Hull KR overcame Wakefield with ease on Saturday afternoon. The Aussie registered a try and inspires Rovers to a big win.
5. Jumah Sambou – St Helens
Making his debut for St Helens after Kristian Woolf decided to rest a whole host of first-teamers against Castleford, Jumah Sambou fit in seamlessly, looking every bit a Super League player. He also took his try expertly well.
6. Riley Dean – Warrington Wolves
With George Williams and Gareth Widdop both absent from the Warrington side for the visit to Huddersfield, Daryl Powell entrusted Riley Dean and Peter Mata’utia in the halves. And, it certainly paid off with youngster Dean enjoying a terrific game.
7. Daniel Moss – St Helens
Not the usual St Helens names were in contention this week after Kristian Woolf decided to change his team for the visit to Castleford. But, halfback Daniel Moss stood out with his bravery and skill throughout. Definitely one to watch in the future.
8. Ligi Sao – Hull FC
Another game, another superb performance from Ligi Sao. The blockbusting forward just could not be handled by Catalans and he regularly set the platform for his backs to work off.
9. Brad Dwyer – Leeds Rhinos
When Leeds Rhinos needed their most senior men to stand up and be counted, Brad Dwyer answered the call. The wily hooker scored two tries and was pivotal to everything that the Rhinos did well in victory over Toulouse.
10. Chris Satae – Hull FC
The huge prop forward has been in sensational form in 2022 and Hull’s fixture against Catalans was no different, with Chris Satae destroying the Dragons down the middle.
11. Ben Currie – Warrington Wolves
Warrington have been up against it in recent weeks, but one man who has been consistent is Ben Currie. And, he showed up for the Wire against Huddersfield on Saturday.
12. Rhyse Martin – Leeds Rhinos
Leeds were up against it against Toulouse on Friday night. With injuries forcing Jamie Jones-Buchanan to shift Rhyse Martin to centre, the Papua New Guinean international did so in such a professional manner.
13. Elliot Minchella – Hull KR
Fresh after signing a new long-term deal at Craven Park, Elliot Minchella put in a devastating performance against Wakefield.

14. Jai Field – Wigan Warriors
Although Jai Field played fullback for Wigan, Josh Thewlis and his hat-trick could not be displaced for Warrington. However, Field still had to be included for winning the game for the Warriors single-handedly against Salford.
15. Oliver Partington – Wigan Warriors
Oliver Partington stood up masterfully from the bench for Wigan as they just about got over the line against Salford.
16. Scott Taylor – Hull FC
Big raps must go to Scott Taylor who was playing his first game for Hull in 2022 following a stress fracture sustained in pre-season.
17. Alex Gerrard – Salford Red Devils
Despite finding chances limited in 2022, Alex Gerrard was in tremendous form against Wigan in Salford’s clash on Sunday. The prop even scored a try.
