Super League returns after a week’s break due to the Challenge Cup Final, but before the action starts up again, it’s time to have a look at which players are topping all the important stats, including tries, assists, tackles and metres.
There have been plenty of dominant performers in the first 12 rounds of Super League, with Leeds Rhinos leading the way at this stage, but only points difference separates them, Warrington Wolves and St Helens, who are in second and third respectively.
Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity come next, with the pair level on points in fourth and fifth, just one win behind the top three. Wigan Warriors round out the play-off spots at this stage.
Those teams are all doing well, but here we are taking a look at the individuals who, on paper at least, are proving most influential for their teams and have the stats to back it up.
Maika Sivo still leads Super League for tries. After missing round one, he’s been dominant since then, with only Hull FC and Bradford Bulls stopping him from crossing the whitewash.
Crossing for four in Las Vegas against Hull KR, the Fijian beast has registered hat-tricks against Castleford Tigers, Warrington Wolves and most recently Wakefield Trinity.
However, all that scoring dominance doesn’t correlate with metres made, with the Fijian just under 900 metres behind Catalans’ Charlie Staines, who tops that metric.
Staines, is just over 100 metres ahead of St Helens’ Tristan Sailor at this stage, with the pair the only two players in the competition to have racked up more than 2000 metres in the opening 12 rounds.
There’s a clear standout for tackles made with Toulouse’s Brendan Hands racking up 522, 85 more than Wigan’s Brad O’Neill in second.
Bradford’s Joe Mellor led the way for most of the early season, but injury in round eight means he has dropped out of the race and it’s Huddersfield’s Tristan Powell who now sits in third.
Following round seven, when there was the most recent break for the Challenge Cup, England and Warrington skipper George Williams topped the assists chart with nine whilst Jackson Hastings was in hot pursuit on eight.
With Williams set to be out for the rest of the year, he has dropped down the charts, and now five players are ahead of him, including Hastings who tops the assist count and two Leeds players.
St Helens half-back Jackson Hastings tops the assist count, but he could have top spot taken from him over the next fortnight, with the Australian suspended for the next two games.
Whilst Sailor is second in metres, one stat he is leading at the minute is offloads.
In terms of cards, every team has received at least one sin-bin or send-off this season, with Toulouse the best behaved having only seen one yellow.
