It is widely known that Lachlan Coote could retire immediately.
The Hull KR star and former St Helens man is set to retire at the end of 2023 but another head knock could bring that earlier.
His fate could be determined this afternoon.
Willie Peters confirmed that Coote is set to see a specialist this afternoon:
“It’s this afternoon. So he came in this morning. So he’s been training with us for the last week but he’s got the specialist appointment this afternoon so we should know a little, hopefully a lot more by this afternoon, or next couple of days at least.”
Despite the prospect of his career being over, Coote is in good spirits according to his coach:
“He’s in really good spirits, like he’s been doing training which he’s allowed to do, no collision, obviously no contact at all. But he’s been doing fitness, he’s been getting into it and to be honest he’s bouncing around.
“So I think it’s one of those, we just wait and see and then obviously see the specialist and after he sees the specialist it’s a matter of sitting down again, having a chat and obviously lock on talking to his family and working out what the best way forward is.”
