Super League star’s future confirmed

Some great Super League stars have uncertain futures such as Leeds Rhinos star Blake Austin, Cade Cust at Wigan Warriors, Adam Swift at Hull FC and plenty of others throughout the league.

This includes some big names at Huddersfield Giants in the shape of legends like Leroy Cudjoe and Jermaine McGillvary.

The duo bleed claret and gold and will go down as legends of the club. They were both part of the Giants squad that lifted their only trophy of the summer era in 2013 as they won the League Leaders’ Shield under Paul Anderson.

Both are in the twilight of their careers and are out of contract at the end of the season.

McGillvary has revealed lately he hasn’t had an offer lately and Ian Watson answered the question ‘is it a decision that will go down to the wire?’ said:

“Yeah, I think so mate. The conversation with everyone was a real honest and open conversation. Just to say the amount of games that he’s been missing, the injuries he’s been picking up.

“You never know, but I tell you, you look at his performance last week. You’re signing him all day long on the back of that performance.

“I think that’s for Jez to just keep turning out them kind of performances, play like that and then everything else takes care of itself. I’ve said it a number of times before, you play well and it’s all in your own control.

“If you’re not playing so well then obviously it’s about opinions and obviously selections and choices that other people have to make around you.”

Meanwhile, Watson confirmed that Leroy Cudjoe would certainly be at the club in 2024.

“Yeah, well obviously there’s a break after this so hopefully like I say we do our job and then the club can get down and start kind of looking at a couple of them but hopefully Leroy gets sorted out pretty quickly mate.

“Leroy will be here next year with us, he’s a great bloke, he’s great for the group, he’s a great character.”

Cudjoe is currently the club’s ‘club captain’ whilst Luke Yates skippers the side on the field.
