Four players have been handed bans by the disciplinary panel this week after Round 15 of the Betfred Super League but none of them will be able to exploit a loophole like others
In total, a huge 11 players have been charged by the Match Review Panel this week.
Of the 11, four players have been fined and will receive no further punishments.
Meanwhile, two more have avoided punishment all together.
On top of this, four players have been handed bans with one player in the shape of Mitchell Pearce handed a ban and a fine.
These bans will all come into effect despite a recent loophole.
Wakefield Trinity and Catalans Dragons are out of the Challenge Cup so have a week off this week.
In the past we have seen these count towards suspensions because players can use reserves fixtures as part of their suspensions. But no reserves fixtures coincide with the cup having been played last week.
Thus, the bans will all be properly served.
Here are the reasons behind every ban:
Sam Eseh:
Dangerous Contact – A defending player makes contact with an opponent after the ball has
been released by an opponent in a vulnerable position which causes flexion to the head,
neck or spinal column on an attacking player, which poses an unacceptable risk of injury to
that player.
Sam Hewitt:
“Trips – Intentional Trip”
Mitchell Pearce:
“Strikes – with hand, arm or shoulder – reckless.”
Matt Whitley:
“Dangerous Contact – Defender uses any part of their body forcefully to twist, bend or
otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves
an unacceptable risk of injury to that player.”
Unsurprisingly, Salabio has been referred to tribunal and faces a mammoth ban for what the panel has deemed a spear tackle on Richie Myler yesterday.
He was sent off in the win against Leeds Rhinos.
His hearing will be heard tomorrow alongside any appeals.
He faces a minimum of six games suspended.

James McDonnell (Leeds Rhinos) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – N/A
Sam Eseh (Wakefield Trinity) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Hugo Salabio (Wakefield Trinity) – Grade F Spear Tackle – Refer to Tribunal
Sam Hewitt (Wakefield Trinity) – Grade B Trip – 1 Match Penalty Notice
King Vuniyayawa (Salford Red Devils) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – £250 Fine
George Griffin (Castleford Tigers) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – N/A
Oliver Partington (Salford Red Devils) – Grade B Dangerous Throw – £250 Fine
Mitchell Pearce (Catalans Dragons) – Grade D Strikes – 3 Match Penalty Notice and £250 Fine
Matt Whitley (Catalans Dragons) – Grade C Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Jez Litten (Hull KR) – Grade B Kicking – £250 Fine
