Super League starlet’s “future is sorted” as exit all but confirmed

Huddersfield Giants confirmed earlier this week that exciting young forward would miss the remainder of the season through injury.

The Giants confirmed the news that Owen Trout would be out for the season with the following statement:

“Owen Trout has confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the 2023 season with an injury, following a scan.”

This likely meant that he has played his last game for the club with the former Leeds Rhinos academy player reportedly agreeing a deal with the Leigh Leopards after interest from Hull FC.

This came after he turned down a deal to stay at the Giants.

Ian Watson though has confirmed that Trout is headed elsewhere saying that his future is sorted despite his injury:

“The good thing is, he has his future sorted out. That will become clear as we go forward but with his future sorted out that is probably one worry off his mind.

“He he had just done his ACL and didn’t have his future sorted that could be an uncomfortable time for a young player like Owen.

“He knows what he is doing and where is going and we fully support him on the back of that.

“So he just needs to focus on his recovery and we will support him in that.”
