Super League star targeted by NRL club for immediate transfer

Transfer stories have dominated Super League news lately and rugby league news for that matter with big stories developing at Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Hull KR.

Last week Warrington announced the signing of Lachlan Fitzgibbon having beaten Leeds Rhinos and others to the second-row’s signature for 2024.

Meanwhile, Hull KR have drafted in Brad Schneider immediately to see out the rest of the season at Craven Park.

He is expected to debut against Leeds Rhinos this week at Headingley ahead of their Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan Warriors the week after.

There have been further rumours such as talk linking Jake Clifford with a move to the NRL in 2024 after a brilliant stint at Hull FC and the same could be said of Lachlan Lam at Leigh Leopards and Brodie Croft at Salford Red Devils.

Now a new story is developing with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting that St Helens hooker Joey Lussick is being targeted by former club the Parramatta Eels.

The Eels want to bring in the hooker immediately to ease their injury woes.

This comes as former Hull KR hooker Josh Hodgson deals with an injury of his own having made the move from Canberra Raiders last year having missed his last year through injury.

It will be interesting where this transfer story goes with the club set to lose James Roby to retirement at the end of 2023.

They have targeted Warrington’s Daryl Clark for 2024 as his replacement but would also have to work to replace Lussick.

Saints take on league leaders Catalans Dragons in a huge game at the top of the league.

The Dragons will arrive at the Totally Wicked Stadium top of the league against the Champions who have remarkably climbed up to third in the league despite an indifferent run of results after their World Club Challenge success.
