Leeds Rhinos star Sam Walters has impressed plenty of people in 2023.
The forward is expected to sign for Wigan Warriors in 2024.
The prop, who can also feature in the back-row, caught the eye against Castleford Tigers at the Magic Weekend with a surprising piece of skill.
Walters threw a 40 metre pass at St James’ Park, a pass like we very rarely see from any player in Super let alone a prop.
Jon Wells was stunned by the pass:
“Is that the longest ball ever thrown by a prop forward in Super League history by the way?
“The ball goes inside and then that is a 40 metre crossfield pass.
“It was the right pass, to the right area of the field and well executed.
“There’s your replacement halfback. I wonder if that will go on his highlights reel. You’d ask for it.”
Phil Clarke was truly impressed by the game that closed the opening day of the Magic Weekend:
“A great game of rugby with drama and controversy. A great bit of skill at the end to win the game.
“The enjoyment from Castleford, it is almost priceless for them to have come here and got the win.”
