Super League star set for exit

The likes of Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Hull FC have all been involved in big transfer stories lately.

Hull FC have allowed Josh Griffin to leave and join Wakefield Trinity effective immediately speaking of immediately Hull KR have signed Brad Schneider for the rest of the season.

Most clubs though have recruited players for next year. Leeds Rhinos have signed Mickael Goudemand for 2024 and have been linked with the likes of former Huddersfield Giants star Danny Levi and Tyrone Roberts for next year as Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer have uncertain futures.

As for Wigan, they have signed former Rhino Kruise Leeming as well as his former teammate Sam Walters and Tiaki Chan and have been linked with Adam Keighran and Brenko Lee.

This is an example of a Super League side turning to the NRL which is true of Warrington who beat a number of clubs to Lachlan Fitzgibbon.

He may not be the only player headed to the Halliwell Jones Stadium in 2024 but the other won’t be a new face.

This stems from developments at Wigan Warriors.

According to The Mole of Wide World of Sports, Wigan Warriors are interested in Dolphins centre Brenko Lee which could spell the end of one player’s time at the DW Stadium.

The Tongan international and Queensland representative joined the NRL’s newest club for their inaugural season and according to the Notorious Mole, the club risk losing him to Wigan Warriors.

The 27-year-old could receive a long term deal at the DW Stadium according to the Mole.

He has another year left on his deal with the NRL club but they will allow him to leave if he secures the move to the Warriors for 2024.

The club are also reportedly interested in Catalans centre Adam Keighran according to L’Independent in France.

He appears to be the club’s other option to take the number three shirt in 2024.

This of course would all but signal the end of Toby King’s time in Cherry and White.

The centre joined the club on loan from Warrington Wolves for 2024. Matt Peet has been open about wanting to keep King but recent reports have suggested he will be a Warrington player again in 2024 especially as salary cap rules favour the Wolves in respect to keeping him.

Now Jon Wells on Sky Sports has claimed that King will definitely be headed back to the Halliwell Jones.

The Wolves do have Peter Mata’utia out of contract at the moment but it has to be said that Connor Wrench is in superb form since returning from an ACL injury.
