Amongst the big rugby league news and Super League news lately has been plenty of transfer stories and rumours involving clubs like Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and Hull FC whilst Hull KR and Warrington Wolves have both announced major signings.
Hull KR have drafted in Brad Schneider from the NRL immediately whilst the Wolves have signed Lachlan Fitzgibbon for 2024.
The second-row will arrive from Newcastle Knights after the Wolves beat Leeds Rhinos to his signature.
The move had some questioning the future of former Wigan youngster Matty Nicholson however the second-row is now set for a positional change.
This was revealed by Warrington coach Daryl Powell after the signing was announced.
He explained: “Lachlan is a quality player and is a great signing for us for a lot of reasons. I’ve had really good, positive conversations with him.
“He’s a top-class back-rower who’s been consistent over there in the NRL for a number of years now. He runs great lines and is a great professional. He’ll be a great addition for next season and the Warrington fans will love what he’ll be able to deliver.
“Matty Nicholson will move to 13 in the middle of the field and he’s really positive about that switch too.”
The Wolves have Ben Currie in the backrow as well and Nicholson should make a brilliant 13.
He made his Super League debut last year at Wigan before what was seen at the time as a controversial switch to Wigan which the Warriors boss Matt Peet did not seem overly pleased about.
