On Saturday we saw 13 players pick up their first England caps.

Amongst them was Hull KR hooker Jez Litten who came off the bench and made a real impact.

He has dovetailed brilliantly for some time with teammate Matt Parcell.

Parcell has now backed Litten to be picked for England against Tonga at the end of the year and come the 2025 World Cup.

“Although we have this year, we probably played on the field together more last year but it’s fine how it works,” Parcell said of their partnership before highlighting that he should be playing for England at the end of the year and beyond.

“Jez and I have a great combination and it’s been awesome to see his progression and to get to play for England on the weekend was an outstanding achievement.

“It didn’t surprise me at all, with the team England picked it was awesome that he got a chance and once 2025 rolls around he’ll have a real good shot at that World Cup and even the tests at the end of the year against Tonga.

“We get on really well, I pick bits of his game up. He’s very direct and his little bits of deception that I try to add to my game. It’s been awesome seeing him progress since I got here.

“He’s got a very good kicking game and he’s probably taught me a bit over these last few years and I’ve started to get a few kicks away.”
