Super League star says he is “open to all offers”

Leeds Rhinos

We have seen plenty of transfer stories emerge recently around clubs like Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and Hull KR.

It seems halfbacks are the order of the day with Leigh Leopards star Lachlan Lam an NRL target alongside Salford Red Devils halfback Brodie Croft.

This comes after confirmation Jake Clifford has signed for North Queensland Cowboys despite having a year left on his contract.

Earlier this year Wests Tigers, who are now interested in Croft, chased George Williams and Mitchell Pearce and have also been linked with Leeds star Aidan Sezer.

However, it is his halfback partner who is being talked about the most Blake Austin. In red hot form, his future is still unclear.

When asked on the JBK Show if he was interested in a return to the NRL he said he was open to all offers:

“I am a pretty confident guy so I think I can still cut it. I’m off contract at Leeds and whatever will be, will be.

“I have never been afraid to do things a bit differently. If an opportunity came up to go home, that would be something I would look at and my kids would push me and force me to look at.

“I am really confident I could cut it. I think I could do a really good job at 14.

“If I was going back I would want to go to a successful team and just focus on me but I’m open to all offers.”

When asked if he would sign for Wests Tigers, he said: “Well they can give me a call if they want.”

That said he did underline his ambition to win a Grand Final over in England and that he is comfortable at Leeds: “I am really comfortable where I am at. I would love to win a title or a Challenge Cup over here.”

What happens next with Austin remains to be seen but he is certainly in red hot form at the moment.

Leeds will be hoping he can fulfil his Grand Final dream at Headingley having come up short in 2022.
