Sam Tomkins has made a decision about his Super League future after the 35-year-old came out of retirement mid-season.
The former England captain made the surprise decision to make a playing return when the French side were struggling back in July.
It was a decision that only came nine months after he hung up the boots following Catalans’ defeat in the 2023 Grand Final.
That had marked the end of his 16-year career but he returned for season 17 and it’s now been confirmed that he will play on in 2025 for season number 18.
There had been plenty of speculation about his future beyond 2024 with Sam Tomkins himself explaining to Sky Sports recently that he was “50/50” on the decision.
Now, it has been confirmed by Catalans Dragons president Bernard Guasch that Sam Tomkins will “probably” play one more season for the club in an interview with French media outlet France Bleu Roussillon.

Speaking on France Bleu Roussillon radio show, Guasch revealed that Sam Tomkins has “assured to do another season”.
He explained: “He made this decision, he feels very good physically and will do the necessary preparation for two and a half months, his knee is fine.
“Of course, he will not play thirty matches next season but maybe 15 or 18 and certainly at the hinge as Steve McNamara planned, it will be an additional contribution.”
It means that Catalans Dragons will boast a spine in 2025 that features the likes of Arthur Mourgue, Sam Tomkins, Cesar Rouge, Alrix Da Costa and new NRL recruit Luke Keary who has already penned a two-year deal with the club.
He is one of several NRL recruits with winger Nick Cotric on board as well as forward Tevita Pangai Jr.
Guasch will be hoping that those recruits and the retention of Sam Tomkins will aid his side in returning to the play-offs after missing out for the first time in several seasons.
