Super League star reportedly set to be released

Clubs like Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Catalans Dragons have all made signings for 2024.

It feels like the Dragons are at the centre of it all signing Hull FC star Chris Satae and losing stars to some of their rivals.

Mickael Goudemand is headed to Leeds Rhinos and Tiaki Chan and Adam Keighran are Wigan bound.

The Dragons are also set to lose Sam Tomkins to retirement whilst they are also set to lose Tyrone May and his halfback Mitchell Pearce who is headed to the NRL to return to Sydney Roosters.

Now reports are emerging that the club could be about to lose star signing Siosiua Taukeiaho with L’Independent reporting that they could agree a mutual release from his contract.

So, the Dragons are set to lose a number of stars.

They have moved to replace some of them already and have been linked with Theo Fages from Huddersfield Giants.

They have now been linked with a huge move for NRL veteran and star man Matt Moylan.

The halfback has made nearly 200 appearances in the NRL including 100 for the Cronulla Sharks.

He joined the club in 2018 after a successful run at Penrith Panthers.

Moylan can play both in the halves and at fullback so is the ideal replacement for Sam Tomkins who is set to retire whilst also helping replace Tyrone May and Mitchell Pearce.

The former New South Wales and Australian representative would be a huge signing, perhaps the biggest of the season and it would be a statement of intent for the Dragons.

But who will the Dragons look at to replace Taukeiaho.

Now former Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils star Ben Murdoch-Masila has emerged as a potential Super League target once more with Fox League reporting that he won’t be offered a new deal at his current club which means he will be free to negotiate with clubs over a move in 2025.

This will no doubt place him on the radar for Super League clubs.

He came very close to returning to Super League this season before confirming a new club for 2023.

It came as he rejected a Super League move with negotiations with Catalans Dragons progressing well and he was in touching distance to a return to Super League but ultimately he will be joining a different lot of Dragons in the shape of St George Illawarra Dragons.
