Super League star passionately defends Head Coach

There is a lot of people piling on the pressure on Wakefield Trinity boss Mark Applegarth.

His side are without a win in the opening 10 games and in eight games has failed to score more than just one try at least and in five games have failed to score entirely.

Last night one of Wakefield’s star players confirmed he was heading to the Sydney Roosters and speaking after the announcement on Show Me The Money TV, Murphy passionately defended Applegarth: “He’s a massive part of my career. He’s really good with the rugby side of things but I think of his main strengths is the personal side with the players.

“I can’t give him enough praise for how good he’s been for my career.

“I’ve been around the boys and you can feel a bit of tension but I think with our squad and our players, I still think we can and I don’t know how we’re not winning to be honest.

“Before the season I thought we were going to be contending for playoffs.”

He also said that his side can’t focus on chasing down Hull FC and Castleford Tigers in 10th and 11th place: “We can’t even look at them at the moment because we just need to get a win on the board. If we don’t get a win and they start winning the gap is just going to get bigger.”

Ultimately, he can’t thank the club enough especially as they help with rehab: “I can’t thank them enough.”

On rehab, he said: “I’m trying to get my range of motion back in my knee, it’s painful right now but we’ll just take every stage how it is.”
