Super League star out for six months

Bill Tupou will sit out the rest of the Super League season after having a successful operation on a patellar tendon injury.

The veteran centre picked up the injury in Wakefield’s 18-12 loss to Castleford last week, and Trinity boss Chris Chester rued Tupou’s “cruel” luck.

“He has been operated on which rules him out for a substantial period – we are hopeful he should get back in that six-month period,” Chester said.

“It is tough on Bill. We were just starting to see the best of him again, it is such a cruel thing to happen.

“We are all disappointed for Bill but he will back before the start of next season.”
