Super League star open to NRL move in 2024

Throughout this season we have seen Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Leigh Leopards and of course St Helens stars being linked with moves to the NRL.

Lately we have seen Salford Red Devils star Brodie Croft linked to Wests Tigers as well as Leeds number seven Aidan Sezer.

Wigan Warriors are set to lose Kai Pearce-Paul to Newcastle Knights who will be joined Huddersfield Giants star Will Pryce. Meanwhile, Jake Clifford’s move to North Queensland Cowboys has also been confirmed.

Warrington were proactive in fending off NRL interest in George Williams giving him a new deal whilst Leigh are negotiating a deal with Lachlan Lam to fend off Canberra Raiders.

A former Canberra halfback in Blake Austin still hasn’t determined his future in the shape of Blake Austin and he said on the JBK Show he would be open to an NRL return:

“I am a pretty confident guy so I think I can still cut it. I’m off contract at Leeds and whatever will be, will be.

“I have never been afraid to do things a bit differently. If an opportunity came up to go home, that would be something I would look at and my kids would push me and force me to look at.

“I am really confident I could cut it. I think I could do a really good job at 14.

“If I was going back I would want to go to a successful team and just focus on me but I’m open to all offers.”

When asked if he would sign for Wests Tigers who are looking at teammate Aidan Sezer and Salford Red Devils star Brodie Croft, he said: “Well they can give me a call if they want.”

That said he did underline his ambition to win a Grand Final over in England and that he is comfortable at Leeds: “I am really comfortable where I am at. I would love to win a title or a Challenge Cup over here.”

What happens next with Austin remains to be seen but he is certainly in red hot form at the moment.
