Super League star named in shock position

Morgan Knowles misses out for St Helens with a "grumbling groin issue".

Tony Smith and Paul Wellens have named their teams for tonight’s Betfred Super League Round 16 clash against St Helens at the MKM Stadium.

The Black & Whites will be aiming to bounce back after their Betfred Challenge Cup exit to the Saints on Saturday afternoon.

The Black and Whites are without Tex Hoy, Liam Sutcliffe, Scott Taylor, and Josh Griffin (suspension) all drop out of the squad.

The loss of this trio to injury is a huge blow for the Black and Whites.

Hull also remain without Mitieli Vulikijapani through injury.

Fortunately, Jake Clifford can replace Tex Hoy in the halves as he returns from a head knock whilst forgotten man Jamie Shaul is back at fullback.

As for the Saints Head Coach Paul Wellens, he is forced into changes with Tommy Makinson missing out due to a hamstring injury picked up in Saturday’s victory, and Mark Percival is stood down due to head injury protocols, again following a head knock he suffered during the game against Hull last time out.

Jon Bennison and Will Hopoate replace them.

In a shock twist star loose-forward Morgan Knowles starts at hooker.

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is at 13.
