Lewis Murphy is excited to be headed to the NRL to join the Sydney Roosters in 2024 but has been left devastated by what has happened to him in 2023.
He wanted to show the league that he wasn’t just one season wonder as he explained on Show Me The Money TV: “I wanted a full season. Just to prove to everyone that it’s not just one season and you’re never going to hear from me again.
“I knew people would be thinking that, I’d be thinking that if I saw some kid have a good season and be wondering how he can back it up, but unfortunately I’ve done my ACL now.”
Murphy also praised Mark Applegarth: “He’s a massive part of my career. He’s really good with the rugby side of things but I think of his main strengths is the personal side with the players.
“I can’t give him enough praise for how good he’s been for my career.
“I’ve been around the boys and you can feel a bit of tension but I think with our squad and our players, I still think we can and I don’t know how we’re not winning to be honest.
“Before the season I thought we were going to be contending for playoffs.”
