One of Super League’s biggest stars could be set to sign an extension despite being contracted to their current club until the end of 2024.

This is Man of Steel leader George Williams who has started the season in red hot form building off a strong World Cup when he was nominated for the Golden Boot Award.

Speaking to The Mole of Wide World of Sports, Warrington Wolves CEO confirmed that the club are in discussions to extend Williams’ deal as he said that the club would not be letting Williams leave who in 2021 when he arrived from the NRL signed a three and a half year deal.

“He is signed with us until the end of 2024 and we are actually in discussions about an extension,” Fitzpatrick said.

“We rate George very highly and no way will he be leaving us any time soon.”

This comes after it was reported that NRL side Wests Tigers were interested in the Super League star.

After a tough 2022 season in a struggling Warrington Wolves side which finished 11th in the league, their lowest ever finish, Williams showed his class for England in the Rugby League World Cup.

Given a platform by Josh Drinkwater, the halfback is devastating teams.

However, the Daily Telegraph reported that the Tigers are interested in the halfback for 2024.

The club are unsure about running with Luke Brooks in the halves moving forward despite letting former Man of Steel and Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils star Jackson Hastings leave for Newcastle Knights.

Thus, they are considering their options for the 2024 season but with a lack of halfbacks off contract in the NRL they may try and lure Williams down under.

Brooks meanwhile has been linked with a move to Leeds Rhinos by the Mole of Wide World of Sport.
