Super League star has big decision to make on his future

There is a lot of talk at the moment about the futures of a number of Super League stars. Leeds Rhinos star Blake Austin’s future has been grabbing the headlines with now deal yet agreed at Headingley, there are questions over Wigan Warriors star Cade Cust’s future with the halfback out of contract whilst former St Helens star and Huddersfield Giants scrum-half Theo Fages has been linked with a sensational move to the Catalans Dragons.

Meanwhile, with Fages’ former teammate James Roby set to retire at the end of 2023 reports have suggested St Helens could swoop for Warrington Wolves star Daryl Clark to replace him whilst Hull FC star Brad Dwyer has been tipped to return to the Halliwell Jones and replace him.

His exit has been confirmed as has Chris Satae’s with the prop leaving Hull FC for Catalans Dragons in 2024.

The Dragons are set to lose an awful lot of star men going into 2024 and another could be Matt Whitley.

He has been tipped to join St Helens in 2024 but as the Saints bring in Whitley and Clark there are still questions over whether or not Will Hopoate will remain at the club.

The versatile outside back has had an injury struck time at the Totally Wicked Stadium but St Helens didn’t lose a game in 2022 when he played including the Grand Final where he did a brilliant job at swapping with Jon Bennison as the two took it in turn to feature at fullback and on the wing.

Hopoate and the club have a big decision to make with Hopoate in the last year of his initial deal but he also has an option for a third year on his contract.

It remains to be seen whether or not he and the club choose to exercise this option.
