Warrington Wolves are battling with the likes of Leeds Rhinos, Hull KR and Salford Red Devils for a spot in the play offs and took a gigantic step towards achieving that with a win over Castleford Tigers.

It was a statement win for the Wolves who ran in 11 tries with braces for Matt Dufty and George Williams.

It was a game though that had emotions running high with plenty of players up against their former club.

Blake Austin was one of them and as he tackled Matt Dufty, the fullback took exception to it and was spotted by Sky Sports’ Bill Arthur having a thing or two to say to Austin.

He chuckled and said: “Matt Dufty got up from that and had a few choice words for Blake Austin, he was not happy.”

Castleford struck first after a solid start from Danny Ward’s men. It was a simple try for the Tigers as Sam Hall hit a strong line on the inside shoulder of a defender to power through and as he went down he stretched out to score.

Warrington soon hit back after some great play with the Wolves’ spine carving through the Castleford defence and on the back of this Danny Walker teed Paul Vaughan up to power over.

The Wolves continued to carve through their opponents and Matt Dufty would show great pace to dart through and score.

They continued to have success through the middle of the field and after another break a deflected pass landed into the hands of Ben Currie to score.

He would soon have egg on his face when he broke clear, it looked like a certain try as he had George Williams in support but he was behind the man and the pass was dropped.

Williams would then knock on again with the line close after great defence from the Tigers.

Another bombed try followed when Matt Dufty dropped a Matty Nicholson break with the line at his mercy.

Castleford punished them with a great set play allowing Greg Eden to stroll in but a yellow card for Jacob Miller created the space for Dufty to jink through.

Warrington would continue to punish the yellow card with two more tries with the Tigers down a man with Daryl Clark jinking past a number of cover defenders after a superb break before good shape saw Matty Ashton stroll in.

With Cas back to 13, George Williams notched a brilliant try out pacing former teammate Gareth Widdop to reach the corner.

They then brought up the 50 mark as Matt Dufty offloaded to James Harrison to score.

Vaughan continued the humiliation with a second try before George Williams got a second of his own.
