Super League star could be set for shocking transfer

Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Hull KR, Leigh Leopards, St Helens and pretty much every Super League club have a top class winger or two in their ranks.
That is certainly true at Huddersfield Giants who for years had one of the best English wingers around in the shape of Jermaine McGillvary.
He reached another level when he finished the 2015 season as Super League’s top try scorer before in 2017 his career peaked in the World Cup.
But now his career is set for a dramatic switch as he spoke on BBC Radio Leeds:
“When I got injured against FC, I didn’t think I was going to play again this season. And obviously next season, it could be me, and it will, it’s probably me done.
“So to come back, three games left and achieve that, it looks better than 249 anyway. But when I do finally look back on my career, I couldn’t be happier with what I’ve done.
“I know I didn’t win anything in particular but I never dreamed of being a Super League player, never mind scoring 250 tries and representing my country. I’m over the moon but I’ve got two more games to go and I’ll see how it goes.”
He went on to say “I think I’m gone”:
“I think I’m gone. I don’t think there’s a deal here for me. So it’s probably me, probably done.”
Asked about playing elsewhere, he said:
“Yeah, if it were full-time, yeah. It would be pretty hard for me to play part-time with my kids in the academies in Manchester, so training on an evening would probably be not doable for me.
“So I’m trying to look for a year deal, whether it be here or elsewhere, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen, so it’ll probably be me.
“Obviously I want to, I’d never say never. I definitely think he has done from what I’m hearing, I think I’m done here. But if there was an opportunity to go one year full-time somewhere as a backup to prove myself maybe, or just to help the younger lads or whatnot, I’d definitely be open to the opportunity.”
The winger would be a great signing for a number of clubs.
