Super League star calls for radical change to representative rugby

There has been a lot of talk about what the sport should do with international rugby league.

This has gone into over drive with State of Origin taking place down under.

The concept has sparked debate over whether Yorkshire vs Lancashire should return.

Now Super League star Tyler Dupree has had his say.

“Oh definitely. I played for Yorkshire in the academy against Lancashire and then we played against the Aussie schoolboys as well,” he said on The Walkers only Podcast.

“I think they should bring that back, definitely. There’s great talent in the Yorkshire and Lancashire teams where they probably haven’t been called up for England, but it would still be a good game.

“100% I think they should bring that back.

“When we play for Salford and say we’ve won, for example we play against Huddersfield we’ve won. the fans are chanting like ‘you fucking Yorkshire b*****ds’. I’m just like, hang on, we’re from Yorkshire though.

“I do think it’ll be a good rivalry and I think they would pack it out because it’s like an international game isn’t it? Fans who aren’t even fans of a specific team come.

“I think that’s something that they should do to sort of entice people in because we need to do more.”
