When the cameras drew to the Catalans Dragons bench as they celebrated their golden point victory over St Helens, an image of Ken Davy popped up in the background.
This was jumped upon by the rugby league fraternity as one of ‘disappointment’ as the French club jumped on each other in the stands.
The Dragons’ 31-30 triumph ensured their first-place finish for the first time in their history, encapsulating the wonderful job that Steve McNamara has done in the south of France.
However, a Super League spokesperson has told Serious About Rugby League that this image was merely an ‘unfortunate’ one and that interim Super League chairman Ken Davy was more than happy with the end result.
“The footage whilst unfortunate is not representative of Kenβs views, as heβs delighted for Catalans,” the spokesperson said.
“Not sure he needs to say any words on it as he was captured in the back of a shot that Sky filmed of Bernard and the Catalans team quite rightly celebrating their tremendous win on Saturday.”
