Super League signings of the season so far including Hull FC, Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity men

Every Super League player off-contract in 2025

The start of the 2025 Super League season has seen incredible performances from some unexpected players, including those new or returning to the league.

It was a season of big change for many teams, featuring new halfback combinations and lots of forward pack movement between clubs over here and in the NRL.

A handful of clubs made minimal changes whereas many, such as Hull FC, Catalans Dragons and Wakefield Trinity, made multiple changes across their entire squads.

Of those off-season signings, several of them have really shined so far in 2025 according to the statistics and Man of Steel standings and we’ve picked out five of the best off-season signings from across Super League.

The top five off-season Super League signings so far

Tevita Pangai Jr – Catalans Dragons

Catalans made a tonne of signings for the 2025 season but arguably, Tevita Pangai Jr has had the most impact. The Dragons might have struggled in 2025 so far but Pangai Jr’s been one of the highlights for their side. Since missing round three, he’s come back with a vengeance with fifteen offloads across five games, tied for first with Hull FC’s Herman Ese’ese. It’s taken him a few weeks to find his feet in the Dragons pack but he seems to be making some real progress. With an average of 6.4 metres per carry, he’s at the forefront of Catalans’ attack. The 29-year-old is hitting the prime of his career following a nine-year stint in the NRL but whilst he’s only signed a one-year deal, if he continues in the form he’s in, he’ll be offered an extension in no time.

Aidan Sezer – Hull FC

If there’s one player who’s made the most impact at their club, it’s been Aidan Sezer at Hull FC. The Black and Whites have been missing someone to guide them around the field and Sezer has fitted into this role immediately. His organisational skills, leadership, game management and kicking game have been some of the best across the league so far. Hull FC look a completely different side compared to last year and much of that is down to the halfback. He’s been able to form combinations with Cade Cust as his fellow halfback as well as wingers Lewis Martin and Harvey Barron, who have both been on the receiving end of his excellent kicks. Sezer’s also been pretty solid in defence, especially on Hull’s try-line. Whilst it didn’t quite click for Sezer at Huddersfield Giants or Leeds Rhinos, maybe the third time’s the charm at Hull FC?

Jake Connor – Leeds Rhinos

He’s often seen as the pantomime villain in Super League with his ‘maverick’ tag but there’s no denying that Jake Connor has hit the ground running in 2025. According to Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur, he and his squad had some harsh truths to tell Connor in the off-season and wanted him to be more of a team player. It seems to be working wonders so far as he sits joint first on the Man of Steel leaderboard alongside Hull FC’s Herman Ese’ese. He’s the only Leeds spine player to have played all eight games the Rhinos have played so far. Connor started the season in the fullback role but since Lachie Miller’s return, he’s moved into the halves. With seven try assists in six Super League games, he’s starting to show the form that everyone in the rugby league world knows he can produce.

Tesi Niu – Leigh Leopards

Another ever-present in Super League has been Leigh Leopard’s Tesi Niu. He’s impressed fans of all clubs so far with his ball-carrying skills. He’s near the top of the stats pack for both tackle busts and metres and he’s exploded out of the gates for the Leopards. He was probably one of the more under-the-radar signings in Super League for 2025 and is already standing out in a strong Leigh side. The 23-year-old has started in the centres in all eight of his appearances of the season but can also cover on the wing and a fullback. Having such a versatile back is never a bad thing and boss Adrian Lam knows him from his days at Sydney Roosters when Niu was a teenager.

Mike McMeeken – Wakefield Trinity

Mike McMeeken might not be one of Super League’s flashiest players but he’s doing a lot of the unseen work at Wakefield Trinity. He joined Trinity in the off-season on a four-year deal, showing just how much head coach Daryl Powell rates him. It’s the second time that Powell’s signed the 30-year-old, getting him in 2015 back when he was at Castleford Tigers. He’s made the second-most tackles in Super League in 2025, just behind Catalans’ Oliver Partington. As the Wakefield captain, he’s definitely been leading from the front, moving between starting at prop and loose forward. He’s contributed four tries in his eight appearances too so he’s not only an asset in defence.
