Super League side unable to name full squad for huge clash

Injuries and suspensions are part of sport especially in Super League and the disciplinary process has been spotlighted this week again with Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers stars in hot water.

As Hull KR star Mikey Lewis only received a caution for “other contrary behaviour” allowing him to play in the derby against Hull FC whilst Ethan Havard also avoided a ban after a yellow card for Wigan against Huddersfield Giants. He was fined.

Blake Austin, Sam Kasiano, Romain Navarrete, Amir Bourouh and Liam Watts were banned but only three of those five will serve those bans.

First Liam Watts had his ban over turned after an appeal at an operational rules tribunal.

Then Salford Red Devils star Amir Bourouh had his ban overturned after it was confirmed an incorrect sentence was awarded to the hooker.

So disciplinary a big talking point as it was after the Challenge Cup quarter-finals which was littered with red cards including one to Leigh Leopards star Kai O’Donnell.

The forward was suspended for six games after a dangerous throw and is still absent through suspension.

As Leigh confirmed their squad for their game against Castleford this week.

The Leopards are also without St Helens loanee Dan Norman. Joe Wardle is also absent and Tom Nisbet hasn’t been named either.

This means Leigh only name a 20 man squad for the game as they look to back up a big win over Hull KR last week.
