Warrington Wolves have suffered a massive blow.

They have lost Matty Nicholson for an extended period.

Nicholson made his debut for the club last year after making a controversial move from Wigan Warriors.

He has been one of the best back rowers this year so far scoring a handful of tries and even making his England debut starting ahead of teammate Ben Currie.

Now though he faces 10 weeks on the sidelines as the club confirmed with the following statement:

“The Club can confirm that Matty Nicholson will undergo an operation this week after rupturing a tendon in his finger, keeping the second-rower out for an estimated 10 weeks.”

A blow for both the Wolves and Nicholson.

Warrington have already had to deal with injuries to forwards like James Harrison so far this season meaning Peter Mata’utia has played in the back row
