Super League is poised for a fascinating finish with Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Hull KR and Salford Red Devils jostling for play-off spots, Wigan Warriors, Leigh Leopards and St Helens gunning for Catalans Dragons in the race for the League Leaders’ Shield and of course the relegation battle at the bottom.
With two wins over Leeds and a win over their relegation rivals, Castleford Tigers looked safe after the Magic Weekend but Wakefield Trinity stunned Leeds to give themselves hope.
This was followed by a win for Cas against Warrington opening up a six point lead on Wakefield and ending the relegation battle in the eyes of many but Trinity have responded with back to back wins.
They have the momentum and Cas are seen as the side struggling. But the mood might be changing as of late.
Castleford have announce the loan signings of Billy Tsikrikas and Alex Foster on loan until the end of the 2023 Super League season.
On these new signings, coach Andy Last said: “Billy has been playing for the Bulldogs NSW team and playing big minutes due to the big engine he has.
“I spoke with Mark O’Meley a former front rower who I coached and has been coaching Billy who spoke highly of him regards his attitude and his effort areas during games.
“Billy has an opportunity to show us what he is capable of during these latter stages of the season.
“Alex is a player with good experience of Super League and Castleford Tigers and represented this club with great distinction in his first stint here.
“He’s a team-first player and a strong character which are all qualities I was looking for as we attack the latter stages of the season. After speaking with him he can’t wait to get started and work hard to take this opportunity.”
The signings might not end there either with the club teasing a third recruit as well.
Thus, there is a far more positive feeling among the fans and that is translating to ticket sales with only a few tickets remaining for their trip to Wakefield which is already shaping up as a relegation Grand Final like in 2006.
That day Belle Vue was packed but Cas came up short, this time a traveling army of black and amber will be hoping to inspire their side to victory with their allocation nearly sold out.
