Super League side ravaged by injury

Tony Smith has named his 21-man squad for Thursday’s Betfred Super League Round 16 clash against St Helens at the MKM Stadium.

The Black & Whites will be aiming to bounce back after their Betfred Challenge Cup exit to the Saints on Saturday afternoon, with Smith making four changes to his side ahead of this week’s league meeting.

Tex Hoy, Liam Sutcliffe, Scott Taylor, and Josh Griffin (suspension) all drop out of the squad.

The loss of this trio to injury is a huge blow for the Black and Whites.

The quartet are replaced by Jake Clifford, who returns after missing Sunday’s game due to head injury protocols, as well as Will Gardiner, Harvey Barron, and Jamie Shaul.

Hull also remain without Mitieli Vulikijapani through injury.

As for the Saints Head Coach Paul Wellens, he makes two changes to the squad that was declared for the quarter-final, with Tommy Makinson missing out due to a hamstring injury picked up in Saturday’s victory, and Mark Percival is stood down due to head injury protocols, again following a head knock he suffered during the game against Hull last time out.
