Super League side prepare for new season with comprehensive win

Catalans Dragons got to enjoy a unique pre-season clash against the top Elite One Championship talent, French talent that is with the likes of James Segeyaro, Corey Norman and James Maloney all unable to take on the French side.

The Dragons gave a debut to former Wakefield Trinity star Tom Johnstone whilst interestingly at centre second-row Matt Whitley started alongside Matthieu Laguerre with new signing Adam Keighran absent as was Tyrone May which meant Cesar Couge started at six alongside Mitchell Pearce.

With no Sam Tomkins, Arthur Mourgue was at fullback and would go on to score plenty of points but it was a young creative spark in Rouge who scored the opening try with Mourgue converting.

The all star team did hit back with a try from Louis Carre but that was as good as it got for them as Tom Johnstone went on to get a try on debut leaving it at 10-4 at the break.

In the second half another debutant got a try in former Wigan Warriors and Toulouse Olympique prop Romain Navarrete crossing for a try on his return to the Dragons.

It was three debutants scoring in a row as ex-Hull FC man Manu Ma’u scoring thanks to great work with Mourgue.

Johnstone crossed for a second try to make it 26-4.

The last try came from Tanguy Zenon with Mourgue notching his fourth conversion to wrap up a 32-4.
