A number of clubs have already looked to the NRL to strengthen their roster for next season and big names such as Jared Waerea-Wargreaves and Tom Burgess will move to Super League for 2025.

A number of names such as Jayden Sullivan, Brent Naden and  Daniel Tupou hav ealso been linked with moves for next season. Now, South Sydney Rabbitohs hooker, Damien Cook, is the latest name to be linked with a move to the UK.

He would demand a salary of around £330,000 a season, however, that is not an obstacle for one side keen to add him to their squad.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Souths hooker, Cook is a wanted man. Cook in under contract until 2025, however, the Rabbitohs are reportedly willing to let him leave if he is able to find a longer contract elsewhere.

The Huddersfield Giants are believed to be interested in bringing Cook to Super League, however they face competition from St George Illawarrra, who could pip to the Giants to their target.

“Cook is contracted at the Rabbitohs until the end of 2025 on a deal worth about $650,000. The Dragons are willing to offer him a contract but would require South Sydney to contribute part of his salary in 2025.

“The opportunity for Cook to move on presented itself a few weeks ago when Super League club Huddersfield made direct inquiries with South Sydney officials in the hope they could lure the hooker to England on a two-year deal.

“The Rabbitohs informed Cook’s manager Mario Tartak, indicating they would not be likely to offer him an extension beyond 2025 and would not stand in his way if he was able to secure a longer deal in England or at another club in the NRL.”

Cook has made 204 NRL appearances across his career in the NRL, scoring 33 tries. He has also been a regular in the South’s struggling side this season, plaving 11 games so far, and scoring twice.
