Super League side lock in pre-season game with Bradford Bulls

One Super League side have locked in their pre-season schedule by securing a friendly against Championship hopefuls Bradford Bulls.

After Wakefield earned promotion to Super League, the Bulls are being touted as one of the favourites to win the Championship in 2025 – thanks in part to their incredible recruitment.

The Odsal club have signed plenty of Super League faces to their squad whilst also extending the deals of former Super League men such as ex-Hull FC duo Franklin Pele and Jayden Okunbor.

Waqa Blake, James Donaldson and James Meadows have all arrived at the club who have also reappointed former head coach Brian Noble after Eamon O’Carroll’s move to St Helens.

Just recently, the newly-appointed Sheffield Eagles coach Craig Lingard labelled Bradford as favourites for the division – something that makes them an interesting team to take on in pre-season.

It’s now been confirmed that Huddersfield Giants will take on the Bulls with the Championship outfit set to travel to the Super League side on Saturday 18th January.

Huddersfield had initially been slated to play Featherstone Rovers on that day but they requested a fixture change and for that game to be bumped to February to allow themselves a home friendly in January.

That home friendly has now been confirmed as coming against Bradford in what Huddersfield are anticipating as ‘stern opposition’. A club statement confirmed the two friendlies, which seemingly means that they will not face Super League opposition prior to the season launch.

It read: “Huddersfield Giants will face Betfred Championship sides Bradford Bulls and Featherstone Rovers in pre-season, as preparations for the upcoming season intensify.

“As originally stated, the Featherstone game will move date to Sunday February 2nd after a request was agreed to by Featherstone and we thank them for their cooperation, this has allowed us to face Bradford Bulls at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 18th January.”

The fixture against Featherstone on the first weekend of February has been labelled by Huddersfield as a ‘warm up’ prior to the Third Round of the Challenge Cup, slated for the weekend of the 8th and 9th of February.

From there, Huddersfield Giants will head straight into their Super League campaign with Luke Robinson’s side set to face Warrington Wolves at home in Round One of the competition.
