Super League side allowed to return home thanks to fantastic new pitch

Hull FC MKM Stadium

It’s the Challenge Cup quarter-finals this weekend as the road to Wembley speeds up.

Undoubtedly the game of the draw is the meeting between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Warriors despite the fact it seems frequently played.

There was a problem standing in the way of the fixture however and fears that the game could be moved.

This is because the game fell within the period that Wigan are not playing at home in the league as a new pitch is being laid.

This is because they share a pitch with football club Wigan Athletic.

In fact, their next home game in the league is scheduled for the 30th June against Huddersfield Giants.

So, there were question marks over whether the game will need to be moved.

However, Wigan have been able to ensure they can use the pitch this weekend making it the perfect setting for a sun kissed Challenge Cup quarter-final between two teams who will be dreaming of lifting the trophy in August.

Wigan’s last home game was over a month ago against Leeds Rhinos so it will be a fantastic return.

The same problem arose for Hull FC who share a pitch with Hull City.

They will be able to host Super League Champions St Helens this week despite the pitch being re-laid.

Their last home game was back on May 4th.

Now an image of their newly laid pitch has been shared on social media.

It looks to be in magnificent condition.
