Super League side in talks with trio of stars as rumours of big move circle

It has been confirmed this afternoon by Hull KR head coach Willie Peters that Sam Wood, Ethan Ryan and Jimmy Keinhorst will be leaving the club.

Peters said in his press conference:

“Ethan Ryan and Jimmy Keinhorst are looking at other opportunities elsewhere.”

He added: “Yes I expect them to move.”

He then confirmed that Sam Wood is set to leave after reports about an expected move to Hull FC:

“Sam Wood is the other, we’ve had some conversations and he wants to be a first team centre in the future.”

However, Peters also confirmed that there are contract talks on going with the older players in his squad who are coming off contract.

He said:

“The experienced and older guys we’re having ongoing conversations with at the moment. Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Kane Linnett and Lachlan Coote.”

The three are all at the age where you would not be surprised if they chose to retire.

SKD has been linked with a move to Hull FC.

“Well he lives over this side, but no. No,” former KR boss turned Hull FC coach Tony Smith said last week on Hull FC TV.

“That would not be something that I would consider unless he desired that to happen.

“And I would not pursue that unless he pursued that.”

Asked if that is because he’s KR captain, Smith said: “Absolutely. Absolutely.

“I’m not going to go and try and poach any of those players and never will.

“If they’re off contract and finish over there, and are on the market, and would like to come and play for me, then I’d welcome any conversation.

“That goes for each and every club but certainly I’ve been very respectful of that boundary since I left there in terms of their players and staff.

“That’s just now how I operate and anybody who knows me would say the same. There’s nothing in that from my end of things mate.”

Interestingly, the Robins have been linked with a move for former Wigan Warriors star Oliver Gildart from NRL side The Dolphins.
